Reiki and Cancer

First of all Cancer Research UK have this to say about what they have found following research into   Reiki for people with cancer:

1. There is no scientific evidence to show that Reiki can prevent, treat or cure cancer, or any other disease.

But, (and its a big 'but)

2. Many healthcare professionals accept reiki as a complementary therapy which may help lower stress, promote relaxation and reduce pain.

Reiki has never made a claim to having an ability to cure any disease. It is an holistic complementary treatment which enables the receiver to better handle the suffering associated with the complaint, whatever it is. This is also true of Cancer.

Some people say that Reiki has helped to control side effects of their cancer treatments, such as pain, anxiety and sickness. They also say that it helps them cope better with their cancer and its treatment.

* Research evidence is available, if requested.

Reiki Research In the United States of America

A Government Report published on the website of the   National Library of Medicine concluded that there is growing evidence that energy therapies have a positive effect on symptoms associated with cancer. While there is need for further research, it is clear that an appreciation for the value of research methods beyond the randomized control trial is important.

Implications for nursing practice: Energy therapies offer additional strategies for oncology nurses providing       integrated nursing care to alleviate suffering and symptom distress of patients with cancer.

Government Recognition

Spiritual Healing aka Energy Healing  is increasingly used in health care alongside conventional treatments.

Reiki is a Group 2 Complementary Therapy as stated in the House of Lords published report of 2000.

Energy Healing has a specific definition involving the channelling of healing energy through the hands to the client which aims to restore the balance of body, mind, and spirit of the receiver.

It is a natural, non-invasive, holistic approach that has the intention of promoting self-healing, to bring a sense of well-being and peace to the client.

When we become unwell physically, emotionally or mentally this has an unbalancing effect on our energy field.

If you know someone who has cancer and is currently being treated and is also suffering mentally or you know someone who has completed treatment and is feeling abandoned, why not do something positive to help them?
