Reiki Healing

"Energy is an eternal delight."  William Blake.

Anyone can benefit from a course of Reiki treatments, no matter what your state of health. Beneficial changes can take place over a fairly short space of time. Reiki can produce:

·          Deep relaxation

·          Reduction of stress and anxiety

·          Boosted energy levels

·          A feeling of inner calm

·          Being better able to cope

Reiki for You

Reiki (pronounced “Ray-key”) is a  simple Japanese energy-balancing method that is used by hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. Reiki was developed from Buddhist healing methods, by a Tendai Priest called Doctor Mikao Usui, in the early 1900s in Japan. In other forms, Energy Healing has been  practised around the world for at least 2,500 years.

Although Reiki has traditionally been used as a healing system, it is also extremely effective as a way to help individuals increase awareness, insight, wisdom and personal growth. Our bodies are energetic in nature. We vibrate! Our bones resonate at lower frequencies while other part such as our blood and thoughts vibrate at higher frequencies.

This magnetic pulse is known as a bio magnetic field. In Eastern traditions this pulse is also known as Ki or Prana. It is interesting to note that scientists have found that measuring the magnetic fields of the body with magneto cardiograms and magneto encephalograms often provide a more accurate indication of what is happening in the body than traditional electrical measurements.

When a practitioner is performing a healing session, the energy that emanates from their hands produces a significantly larger bio- magnetic reading (7-10Hz – Theta and Alpha range) than a non-practitioner. These frequencies are associated with physical healing and ‘whole person’ balance.

Contentment, relaxation, decreased feelings of stress, fear and anxiety as well as a reduction (and in some cases elimination) of physical illnesses and mental conditions are common observations from clients after a Reiki session. There are countless case studies and anecdotal research verifying the effects of Reiki sessions.

It Is More than Healing

Reiki as a Buddhist practice for self-healing, is primarily a spiritual way to live a moral and ethical life, to heal oneself and others. When Dr Usui first formalized Reiki, he intended it to be a tool for spiritual growth. The physical healing that occurred was a side-effect of his increased awareness following his own spiritual Enlightenment

Current Practice

Nowadays, it is practised in UK hospitals and by people other than Buddhists. In fact, Reiki is increasingly offered in hospitals, hospices, and private practice settings, applied to a variety of illnesses and conditions. Those who receive such treatments report relief of symptoms from numerous health challenges, including mild mental health issues. Research shows that Reiki primarily helps in the reduction of stress, anxiety and depression, as well as relief of chronic pain — the last of which can bring on anxiety and depression or make episodes worse.

Reiki and You

Why not try it for yourself?

You may even consider training to be a Reiki Practitioner so that you can bring comfort to others, particularly if they are experiencing issues in their lives today.

How Reiki Helps My Clients

From my experience I can say that it can:

  • ·help you to feel deeply relaxed

  • ·help you cope with difficult situations

  • ·relieve emotional stress and tension

  • ·help to improve overall wellbeing

Every person with cancer I have treated say they feel better after receiving Reiki.

Studies show (and I agree) that this is often because a Reiki Practitioner spends time with the person, and touches them. I know that after the rush and stress of   hospitals and treatment, it can be very relaxing when someone gives you attention for an hour or more, in a calm setting. For this reason Reiki is sometimes used in palliative care, especially in hospices.

Reiki means ‘Healing from the Universal Life Force’ and when we are ill, (physically or mentally) our energy field is of a low vibration. Just as two pendulums in the same room will synchronise with each other over time, so too the lower vibration seeks to synchronise to the higher vibration offered by the Reiki. Through the Practitioner ,the client draws down subconsciously what she needs.

I have clients who have a cancer of different types such as bone cancer, breast cancer and prostrate cancer. I do not treat the cancer: I am not a clinician. I do offer Reiki which treats the whole person i.e. holistically.
